OPINION: A LANGUAGE FOR ALL SEASONS. NATURE, COMMUNICATION, AND LANGUAGE

It’s a wonderful world. Nature and people dynamics abound. There is a diversity of patterns in nature, displaying the majesty of the seasons, in permanent motion, a unique process in ongoing communication!  Life is ample and beautiful, so much to learn from nature, from each other, with equality and respect at all times. We truly believe and act upon this paradigm.

We communicate at every step of our lives, in a variety of ways and either with the natural, cultural, or personal world. Hopefully, this rich interaction can display the best of mankind because it is true that the more cultural diversity, the richer the interactions and beneficial results for everybody. Nowadays, this certainly conveys a challenging view, the most challenging I would say, in these trying times.

Today, where storms of all kinds bring us to a halt and leave us speechless, I would think, more than ever, that language matters are of the utmost importance.

There is the need to consolidate the ‘people’s language’ as Noah Webster (1758-1843) wisely mentioned. A language showing a true national feeling, a brave spirit, like an independent and active patriot in pursuit of happiness for the common good. Today, the people’s common good is inherently in unison with the natural world. At this point in millenial time, we already have quite enough knowledge and facts about this insight: our common well-being as humankind depends entirely on nature’s well being. Nature was here first and she doesn’t need us. We came second and we need her to survive. If we are planning to last longer on the planet, we’d better do much more to keep our natural commons in living condition. A lot is being carried out from different fields of activity where a variety of language forms convey this care for nature, but still a massive and robust ‘green’ language influx is lacking, mainly from decision makers.

To preserve the commons, the natural world common to all, we have to actively share and communicate a ‘green’ lexicon common to all. Here language is the bridge and the guardianship, which plays its amazing communicator role. Both worlds in unison, mankind and nature, can be more powerfully intertwined if we can build on the whole view of the people’s ecological language. In a snap, many wonderful communication possibilities will be at hand because we are sharing a balanced rational talk about your own local place. Then we could humbly affirm this as the ‘language for all seasons,’ for both worlds together.

We must develop a passion for meaningful communication and the strong belief in full environmental awareness and action, both locally and globally, through the quality use of language, among other activities. We have to introduce and use a standard whole nature-based language with rich localisms and substantial force to move onwards to help our planet. By making use of  personal narratives, descriptions, and dialogues to reach out personally to neighbors, families, community, representatives and decision makers in our community and beyond, we can promote real change in attitudes and behaviours. This has been done and we should strengthen and enrich it as time is of the essence. A political decision at this stage should be coordinated for better results. Then make your own way of expression, your ‘language for all seasons,’ at all times and all places.

Time to ‘green energize’ your language skills and continue your vital green conversation with nature. It’s the ‘green language revolution’ now. Let’s show our true green spirit! For us and for our unique blue spaceship! All on board!
