African Heritage Reparations Assembly Plans Online Listening Session For January 11

As part of its ongoing outreach effort, the African Heritage Reparations Assembly (AHRA) will hold its second listening session on Wednesday, January 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This session will be conducted on-line. Representative Jim McGovern will participate, along with State Representative Mindy Domb and State Senator Jo Comerford. The listening session will begin with a brief explanation of the five areas of harms of racism as identified by N’Cobra, the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America: personhood, wealth and poverty, health, education, and criminal punishment. These introductions will provide a framework for the listening session.
A previous listening session was held in person on October 27 .
A later session will deal with eligibility criteria for local reparations. This session will be scheduled after the AHRA comes to a consensus on how the program will be administered. Public response will then be solicited.
