Meet Audrey Falkner, the Indy’s New Intern

Audrey Falkner
Audrey Falkner, a rising senior at UMass with a major in journalism and a minor in natural resource conservation will be interning with the Indy this summer. Falkner’s regular beat will be the Community Safety and Social Justice Committee, CRESS, and other social justice issues in town, She will also take on occasional feature story assignments. She will also work to revitalize the Indy’s dormant presence on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.
During the school year, Falkner writes for The Daily Collegian, covering everything from campus life to community activism. She is passionate about travel, nature, and social justice—and loves telling stories that connect people to the world around them, especially the parts often overlooked.
Falkner says, “Like many, I have been frustrated by the ongoing disappointments of the Trump administration and its ripple effects. That frustration drives me to hold institutions and communities accountable and to dig deep into the local issues that matter. I’m excited to join The Amherst Indy, where I’ll be reporting on social justice and helping manage the outlet’s social media to grow our audience. You can reach me at afalkner@umass.edu.”
Welcome Audrey! We need all the rising clear thinkers willing to engage and appreciate your participation.
