The Jones Library has announced that the temporary location for the library at 101 University Drive is set to open on Monday, July 14 at 9 a.m. This location will be open regular hours, which will be announced following the opening. The historic building at 43 Amity Street is closed for the https://www.joneslibrary.org/buildingproject. No timeline for the construction has been released.
The University Drive location is next door to the post office. The announcement states that full library services are planned to be offered from this location once the library is completely moved in. Special Collections will be open by appointment only.
The temporary location is fully accessible, with ample free parking. It is on both the 33 (Puffer’s Pond/Shopper Shuttle) and B43 (Northampton/Hadley/Amherst) bus routes. It is approximately 1.4 miles from the Amity Street location.
The North Amherst Library and Munson Memorial Library continue to be open regular hours. Until the Jones temporary location opens, books should be returned to one of the branches. But all Jones Library books and media that were checked out before Jones closed have been given an extended due date and will not become overdue during the transition. Plus, there will be no overdue fines. The library asks that patrons consider holding onto their items until the University Drive location opens.
