“A Journey Stitched with Love,” an exhibition of quilts by local artist Pam Ledoux, will be on display at the Town Hall Art Gallery, 4 Boltwood Avenue, through the end of August. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Ledoux is a local fiber artist and quilter. All of her quilts feature hand quilting made with cotton fabric, batting, and thread. Speaking about her art, she says “I love the interaction of color and fabric. Using traditional quilt patterns, my passion is to play with pattern, color and texture to make either subtle or vibrant quilts that catch the eye and provoke a smile. Sometimes a quilt that looks very simply is actually very complex.”
“My mother and I sewed a lot, which gave me a love of fiber arts,” shared Ledoux. “As a Home Economics teacher, I passed this passion to my students. Forty years ago, I learned to quilt, which expanded my love of fiber arts, and I have been a voracious quilter ever since. I have taught quilting and made many gifts of quilts. About 15 years ago, I set up my first craft fair at the Brookfield Farm Art Behind the Barn Artist’s Fair and have been showing my quilts (and knitted items) at regional craft fairs and gallery shows ever since.”
Exhibits at the Town Hall Art Gallery are coordinated by the Amherst Public Art Commission and artists are invited to apply to have their work displayed for the bi-monthly exhibits.
