Downtown road construction is expected to continue for at least four more weeks, with work scheduled Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. The town has announced temporary parking accommodations to help make downtown more accessible for residents and businesses during road construction.

Parking Accommodations

  • Free Parking: Free two-hour parking in the North Pleasant Street lot (behind CVS) through Labor Day (9/1/25). No overnight parking.
  • Street Parking on Main St, Amity St, North Pleasant St, and South Pleasant St that was closed during active construction will be reopened and available every weekend from Friday at 5 p.m. through Sunday at 5 p.m.. Use caution when opening car doors – curb heights may vary due to recent road lowering.

Construction Schedule

  • Week of August 18: On Monday, August 18, Crews will place the first coat of asphalt. The intersection will remain open to traffic, with some temporary detours in place throughout the day. Once this step is complete, crews will spend the rest of the week working on raising structures (utility access, catch basins). Use caution when traveling through this area.
  • Week of August 25: Crews will continue to work on raising structures and work will begin on crosswalks, ramps, and curbing.
  • Reminder: The main intersection downtown will be open anytime they are not actively paving and always open after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
