The Town of Amherst, in partnership with CET, invites residents to attend a virtual information session about the Amherst Heat Pump Incentive Program on Tuesday, September 9 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Zoom. Live interpretation will be available in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
The town launched the Amherst Heat Pump Incentive Program in April 2025. This initiative is designed to help homeowners install energy-efficient heat pump systems by providing financial assistance and expert guidance.
Interested residents are encouraged to act quickly to benefit from a 30% federal tax credit (up to $2,000) before the expiration of the federal Energy Efficiency Home Improvement program on December 31, 2025. This federal tax credit can be combined with the Town of Amherst’s $3,500 incentive, as well as other available state and federal incentives, maximizing overall savings.
Join this virtual information session to learn more about the Amherst Heat Pump Incentive Program. This program provides financial assistance, expert guidance, and education to help homeowners install energy-efficient heat pump systems which provide clean heating and cooling. The session will be facilitated by representatives from CET who will explain the benefits of heat pumps and how the program works, including eligibility and requirements.
Amherst Heat Pump Incentive Program
The program’s goal is to complete 30 whole home heat pump installations by the end of 2026, and to educate the community on the benefits and best practices of this advanced technology. So far, the program has facilitated three successful installs and is currently supporting eight customer projects in process. The program has the capacity to support 19 more installations.
Heat pumps are a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems. They can lower operating costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide year-round comfort. By offering financial support, expert guidance, and education, this program aims to make it easier for Amherst residents to transition to clean heating and cooling technology.
The CET team will help homeowners determine their eligibility, schedule necessary assessments, and guide them every step of the way.
