A group of local youth activists has scheduled a listening session with progressive candidates in the upcoming town election for Town Council and School Committee. Julian Hynes and Marisol Pierce Bonifaz, in collaboration with Amherst College Democrats, have organized the event to give progressive candidates an opportunity to listen to a youth-led conversation on what young people would like to see in Amherst. The goal is to share youth-oriented concerns and demands on climate, school funding, local government accessibility, and representative government.
The event will be held on the Amherst North Common on Saturday, October 4 from 3-4 p.m. No experience is required to attend, and light refreshments and snacks will be served. Organizers emphasized that they want to share perspectives of all young people and that includes high school and college students.
