Six Candidates Vie For Three Open Seats On Planning Board

The Community Resources Committee of the Town Council will conduct interviews for the three open positions on the Planning Board on Wednesday, August 26 at 5 PM over Zoom. The link is https://amherstma.zoom.us/j/96144169774.  

Michael Birtwistle is applying for a second term on the Board. Chair Christine Gray-Mullen and David Levenstein did not apply for another term.  

New applicants are Adrian Fabos, Robert Greeney, Thom Long, Andrew MacDougall, and Johanna Neumann. Each submitted a Statement of Interest listing their qualifications and reasons for wanting to serve on the Planning Board.  These statements can be found here

  1. I am interested in how each candidate for the planning board sees the perfect look and feel of downtown, what they hope downtown is like in 2030. Sure, they should come in open-minded, ready to fairly judge each proposal on its merits, but do they have a bias to yes? bias to no? want it to have more private dorms, et al?
