Maureen Pollock, who has been a planner in the Planning Department since January, 2018 has been chosen as town planner for Montague. Her departure from Amherst was announced by Planning Director Chris Brestrup at the December 7 Planning Board meeting.

Before coming to Amherst, Pollock served as an Assistant Planner and Conservation Agent in Greenfield. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Framingham State University and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning from UMass. While in Amherst, Pollock served as staff liaison to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Design Review Board, and Disability Access Advisory Committee. She worked on several grants and zoning amendments and was instrumental in the revision of the zoning amendment on parking.

In reporting on Pollock’s hiring, the Greenfield Recorder quotes hiring committee chair Jen Audley as saying, “Pollock is well-known for her work ethic and contributions that she’s made community life in the region.” Pollock’s loss leaves two vacancies in Amherst’s Planning Department. Planner Ben Breger left the department in November to work for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
