We’re Doing It Again: Coordinated I-91 Overpass Standouts from Connecticut to Vermont

A coalition of Western Massachusetts pro-democracy organizations will offer a reprise of their April 25, 2025 three state I-91 overpass standout in protest of the Trump administration’s assault on democracy. The event is planned to kick of the Memorial Day Weekend on Friday May 23 from 4-6 p.m. 14 overpasses (as of this writing) from Windsor Locks, Connecticut to Brattleboro, Vermont. Organizers promise that this standout will be larger and louder than last time and since it will be the start of the holiday weekend and a time when lots of people will be on the road and hence will offer great visibility to the resistance. Organizers will have banners and participants can also bring flags or signs with very few words and very big letters.

The purpose of such standouts, which have been happening weekly at various locations along I-91, is to raise awareness about the violation of our constitutional rights, demonstrated by the kidnapping of legal residents off the streets and from their homes, their detention and transportation out-of-state or out of the country, all without due process. Every individual living in the United States is threatened. In addition, cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, veterans’ services, funding of all kinds to universities and non-profits, and the downsizing and/or eradication of the Department of Education, the EPA, NOAA, and more are completely unacceptable.
