Soirce: Western Mass People’s Tribunal

Western Massachusetts activists will host a People’s Tribunal on Saturday October 25 to examine evidence of local participation in the genocide in Gaza. The event will be held at the at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Amherst, 121 North Pleasant Streetm, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will follow the format of organizers at the University of California. In a series of public presentations, organizers from the Five Colleges and various community groups will reveal detailed evidence of local participation in the genocide. The audience, The People, will serve as this trial’s jury.

As recognized by leading human rights organizations across the world, Israel is committing a genocide against Palestinians—the gruesome culmination of decades of ethnic cleansing, dispossession, erasure, humiliation, war crimes, and torture. In Western Massachusetts, institutions such as the Five Colleges are enabling and profiting off of this genocide through investments in and partnerships with weapons manufacturers, e.g. Raytheon (RTX).

A vigil for the innocent lives lost in Gaza by weapons made in and funded by Valley entities will occur simultaneously to the trial proceedings outside of the venue. We will read poems, recite names of the martyred, and light candles in quiet mourning.

Free tickets are available to attend the live indoor trial. Seats are limited and we expect it to fill up in advance. We encourage those without tickets to join us at the outdoor vigil to show solidarity and boost the call for accountability to our local leaders with blood on their hands.

Videos and additional documentation of the Tribunal will be available online by Tuesday 10/28.
