UMass Webinar on the US Incursion in Venezuela

The UMass College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) will sponsor a webinar on the US intervention in Venezuela and beyond on Tuesday, January 20, at 4 p.m. over Zoom. The webinar features UMass SBS faculty with expertise on Venezuelan politics, Latin American politics, and international and domestic law to make sense of the recent military incursion and arrest by US military forces of Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro. Panelists will discuss the legal basis, or lack thereof, for the invasion and arrest. They will also discuss what this means for Venezuelans still living in the country, those abroad, and all Americans, as the Trump administration pursues its security, political, and economic goals.
