Our feature, Photo of the Week, presents each week, a new picture by a local photographer. We invite local photographers to share their photographs here.   Please include a description/caption and an indication of who is to be credited.

This week we offer another end-of-the-month gallery of photos that we have received during the month of February. We will continue to offer these end-of-the-month galleries as long as folks continue to send us photos.

It’s hard not to anthropomorphize when a gang of tough and nasty starlings descend on a bird feeder and drive away the cute little sparrows, wrens, and finches. European starlings, like English Sparrows, arrived in the US at the turn of the century, about the same time as large numbers of immigrants from southern and eastern Europe. Photo: David Glassberg

When the world seems dark, it helps to be in the midst of beauty, like walking in the snow at Amethyst Brook. Photo: Peggy Matthews-Nilsen
