The Amherst Pelham Education Association (APEA) wishes to express gratitude to the many community members who supported the APEA through the year and a half of negotiations. Community members displayed signs on their lawns, made public comments at School Committee meetings, wrote letters to the editor, participated in rallies…all of which helped us achieve our contract.Ā  The contract was recently ratified by the union with a 3% cost of living increase for three years, with other gains for staff as well. (The School Committee must ratify in the coming week). Gains for staff mean gains for our students.

Our work is not finished, as there are more issues that the union needs to address in the next negotiations process, starting in a year. For now, members are doing a mix of working and resting over the summer, getting ready for students in August!
