Amherst Sunrise will host a rally at Sweetser Park on July 10 at 2 p.m. to protest the FY 2022 budget approval, which includes substantial cuts to Amherst Regional Public Schools and insufficient funding for the Community Responders for Equity, Safety, and Service (CRESS) program as an alternative to policing by the Amherst Police Department. Speakers will include representatives from Amherst Sunrise, Amherst’s Community Safety Working Group, the ARPS School District, and Defund413 Amherst.
