Dear Reader,

The Indy is back in business after a gratifying two-week break. There’s much to catch up on and this week’s dispatch offers a start. We have not yet pulled together our Western Mass Resistance Calendar and our Photos of the Week but they will be back next week, along with news that we were unable to squeeze in during the few days that we have been back.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for direct action in response to the depredations of the Trump Administration, you can find a lot of good information at the websites below.

And there is rally scheduled for SAT JAN 17 on the Greenfield Town Common from 12-1 PM entitled “Hands off Venezuela”, to protest the US government’s incursion in Venezuela.

While we were away, Trump invaded Venezuela, ICE murdered Renee Good and has intensified their violence against the residents of Minneapoilis, Trump has stepped up his rhetoric about appropriating Greenland and has on multiple occasions suggested that he will invoke the insurrection act (see also here) in order to occupy American cities with federal troops, and he has stated repeatedly that he sees no reason to have elections. All this in the last two weeks! It’s hard to comprehend how rapidly things are falling apart. There has been a lot of insightful analysis and commentary written about all of this, and we’ll share some of that in the coming week.

Special thanks to all of the folks who wrote for this week’s issue to help jumpstart our return.

Thanks for reading the Indy.
