About 60 people with homemade signs lined up along the intersections of Rt. 9 and Bay Road in Hadley on Friday afternoon, January 23, 2026, in conjunction with the ICE Out for Good! National Solidarity Day of Action. The honking, waving, and thumbs-ups did not stop for two hours as, it seemed, the vast majority of those driving by shared the sentiments of the demonstrators.

The nationwide protests were also part of a National Day of Solidarity with Minnesota, featuring a massive economic blackout and protests against intensified U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in that state. The action included thousands marching in Minneapolis, hundreds of business closures, and demonstrations nationwide.

A broad coalition of groups had called for coordinated actions across the country to demand accountability from the federal government, honor lives lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions. Organizers assert that Renee Good’s killing by ICE agents in Minneapolis is part of a broader, escalating pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies.
