The annual lighting of the Merry Maple will take place on Friday, December 6, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on the Town Common. The schedule of events is as follows:
Tree lighting – 5:00 p.m.
Performances
Amherst Regional Middle School Chorus – 4:30 p.m.
UMass Marching Band – 5:30 p.m.
Activities
Open House, UMass Fire Station – 3:00- 6:00 p.m.
Amherst Fire Truck Appearance with Santa Claus – 5:30 p.m.
Frosty the Snowman with games from Amherst Recreation – 3:00-6:00 p.m.
Horse drawn carriage rides – 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Unless Holidays come to an end
or nobody noticed to do it again or
it didn’t show up on a screen or
overheard during coffee or tea or
walking to class or in a hurray or
whenever wherever whatever was
said, a tree on Town Common is
decidedly dead. Dead from decisions
made in haste without thought
convenience being what is usually

not one alone unless someone
like you cares a whole lot,
nothing is going to get better.
