Photos of the Week: Eagle Along the Connecticut
Eagle along the Connecticut River. Photo: John Varner
These pictures were taken last year on 6/5 on the Connecticut River, about one mile north of the Sunderland bridge. For about a week after the shad run upstream to spawn, dead and dying shad wash down stream in early June, providing a feast for eagles, and a great opportunity for bird watchers. This eagle seemed totally non-plussed by my picture-taking, sitting about 20′ above my kayak.
Our feature, Photo of the Week, presents a new picture each week by a local photographer. We invite local photographers to share their photographs here. Please include a description/caption and an indication of who is to be credited.
