The Town of Amherst invites community members to join Town Manager Paul Bockelman and Amherst-Pelham Regional Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Xiomara Herman (Dr. XI) for coffee and conversation on Monday, November 9 from 5:00 p.m to 6:30 p.m. at the new Amethyst Brook Elementary School, 70 South Pleasant St. Please use the main entrance of the building and head towards the first-floor conference room (104).
All community members are welcome to join this informal conversation with the leaders of our town and school district, plus to check out the new elementary school. Dr. Xi will share updates and answer questions about school happenings, including the recent opening of the new elementary school and sixth grade academy, transportation changes, and a review of the regional school agreement. Join them to talk about these and any other related topics.
The Amherst-Pelham Regional Public School system educates a diverse population of approximately 2,790 students, including native speakers of more than 38 languages. Two elementary schools are located in the town of Amherst and one in the town of Pelham. The middle school and high school are located in the town of Amherst, and draw students from the towns of Amherst, Pelham, Leverett, and Shutesbury.
This will be the third Cuppa’ Joe with Paul “After Hours” event. The goal is to host some of these community sessions on weeknights, rather than only on traditional Friday mornings, to ensure all residents have the opportunity to participate.
The “Cuppa’ Joe with Paul” events are monthly and rotate locations around town. Each time, Paul is joined by a different town department head or official who provides insights into their area of focus. Residents and others are welcome to share their concerns, offer suggestions, or just get to know each other.
