Apartheid Free Western Massachusetts (AFWM) invites the community to join them at Groff Park in Amherst on Friday July 4 from 1-4 p.m. to to build comradery, socialize, recap actions that members of the community have accomplished, learn about ways we can further support each of our efforts, and hopefully we can hear from some of the area businesses who signed up!
Apartheid Free Western Mass has taken the following pledge:
We Affirm our commitment to freedom, justice, and equality for all Palestinians and ALL people.
We Oppose all forms of racism, bigotry, discrimination, and oppression.
We Declare ourselves an Apartheid-Free Community and to that end;
We Pledge to join others in working to end all support to Israel’s apartheid regime, settler colonialism, and military occupation.
- We have gone to solidarity events for Palestine and our immigrant friends and neighbors
- We have hosted and led educational outreach
- We are going door to door to area businesses and organizations
- We are organizing an effort to pass a Town Resolution declaring Montague to be an Apartheid-Free Community
- We are building a regional movement with our comrades in VT
Find out ways you can get involved. AFWM can do so much more and we can’t wait to share some ideas about incorporating immigrant solidarity or divestment into our activities in the form of resolutions or ordinances. Let’s envision the future we must achieve.
Please bring a potluck dish to share and note that the park is great for kids-playground, stream, large area for frisbee or games and a splash pad. RSVP not required but helpful to let us know if you will be joining us. We are looking forward to getting us all together in solidarity to dismantle apartheid, oppression, and division in our own communities and in Palestine.
