Keep Busy During School Vacation Week with Winterfest Events

The Recreation Department has partnered with community organizations to provide a variety of activities for the week of February vacation, February 14-21. Many of the activities are free. The week culminates in the Fire and Ice Festival and Luminaria, beginning at 3 p.m. on the Town Common. This event features ice sculptures and luminaria. Other highlights of the week include a free family dance party at The Center Dance, Little Bear hikes at Mill River sponsored by the Hitchcock Center, and Pokemon week at the Jones Library. The Munson Library will host a Tiny Tutti Concert and a Dr. Rosie Stuffie Vet Clinic on Monday, February 16, and a Lego Club on Tuesday, February 17. The Amherst Cinema is showing “Zootopia” for its $5 family film series on Saturday, February 14, and the Beneski Museum at Amherst College is offering a program on Ice Age Creatures and More on Wednesday, February 18. 

In addition, there are numerous basketball and hockey games at UMass and Amherst College, and there is always cross-country skiing and disc golf at Cherry Hill.
