Amherst Kids and Teens Eat Free This Summer

The Summer Eats Program, which offers free meals to kids and teens, is operating at nine sites in Amherst this summer. Meals are sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education and UMass dining and are delivered by UMass Dining’s Baby Berk food truck.
In Amherst, summer eats began on June 29, and will run Monday-Friday through Friday August 14. Operating times vary at each site. Find the details below or at the Summer Eats webpage. Breakfast and Lunch will be served at Amherst Regional High School with the other eight sites serving lunch only. Those sites are: Olympia Oaks, University Village, Mill River Recreation Area, Meadowview Apartments, Butternut Farms, Colonial Village, Village Park, and Rolling Green.

- Village Park (497 E Pleasant St) from 1:35 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
- Meadow View (266 E Hadley Rd) from 2:05 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
- Butternut Farms (12 Longmeadow Dr) from 2:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
- Colonial Village (81 Belchertown Rd) from 3:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Rolling Green (1 Rolling Green Dr) from 3:20 p.m. to 3:35 p.m.
All kids in Massachusetts, ages 0-18, can receive free meals at any Summer Eats site listed on the Summer Eats map. No registration or ID is required. Kids and teens can just show up and receive a free meal! No one will check an i.d. or ask any questions. Summer Eats meals meet nutrition standards established by the USDA. Fruits and vegetables are provided with every meal, along with whole grains. Meals are designed to be eaten on site and grab and go meals are not available.
Summer Eats is a federal nutrition program designed to ensure that all youth have access to healthy meals and snacks during the summer, when school is not in session. Free meals are available to all kids and teens at hundreds of sites across the state.
Project Bread’s Child Nutrition Outreach Program partners with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to identify and collaborate with local school and community meal providers to offer Summer Eats sites across the state.
