The November Town Manager Report notes that the Portland Loo, a standalone, single-occupancy public restroom, has been installed at Kendrick Park. The stainless steel structure, which was permitted in 2025 and expected to open early this year, has open slats near the floor and ceiling for safety monitoring, anti-graffiti coating, an exterior hand-washing station, and year-round accessibility. The project cost about $400,000 and was funded through a $1.8 million American Rescue Plan Act grant for park and infrastructure improvements.
Town Manager Paul Bockelman notes in his report that “We discovered an operational issue and the Department of Public Works will address the issue in the next week or so.” Bockelman did not indicate whether the operational issue will delay public access to the facility.
