While Earth Day celebrations may not be as ubiquitous as they were prior to the pandemic, there are still a number of events scheduled across the Pioneer Valley to celebrate Earth Day, which has been celebrated every April 22 since 1970.  It is estimated that Earth Day is now celebrated by more than 1 billion people annually across 193 countries.  Here’s a listing of the Earth Day events that we are aware of.  If our readers know of others, we invite them to share that information in the comments section at the end of the article.

As our own contribution to Earth Day,  the Indy offers this link to Darcy Dumont’s 2021 essay in the Indy, Every Day Is Earth Day Starting Right Now

  1. Thank you sooooooo much for compiling this listing. I just posted it on next week’s Enviro Show blog opening. You’ve done the community a great service and we will send kudos on air at WXOJ, ValleyFreeRadio.org starting Tuesday evening, as well as on our podcast (https://rss.com/podcasts/enviroshow/) throughout the weeks.

We are, as they say, all in this together and must support each other anyway we can. Like we always say, to those who should know better: “It’s the Climate Crisis, Stupid!”

    Onward! (and Happy Earth Days)

  2. Don, thanks for the kudos but the listing you cite is from 2022. We’ll try to pull together a listing of Earth Day events for 2024 and post soon but so far, the listings for the Valley are looking a bit thin. If you have events that you’d like to see us list, please let us know.
