As Amherst’s Hospice of the Fisher Home celebrates its 20th anniversary, the organization is honoring its past while making an investment in its future.

For two decades, Hospice of the Fisher Home has provided compassionate, end-of-life care to individuals and families across Western Massachusetts – both in its residence and through in-home community programs. Now, at this milestone moment, the organization is launching a $100,000 endowment campaign designed to ensure that this care continues for generations to come.

The campaign was inspired by a recent anonymous gift of $50,000. The donor made clear that the funds should be used in a way that will help ensure the Hospice’s future ability to provide quality end-of-life services to all persons in the community. This generous donation led the Board of Directors to establish a Board-designated Endowment Fund that can grow through additional donations and prudent management. This will create a lasting financial foundation to support long-term sustainability.

The initial $50,000 gift will be matched through community donations, with the goal of reaching $100,000.

“Now more than ever donations are a commitment to the future of hospice care in our community,” said Maria Rivera, Executive Director. “As we reflect on 20 years of caring for our neighbors, we’re also looking ahead to ensure that this level of compassionate care remains accessible to all who need it.”

The Endowment Fund will be overseen by the Board’s Finance Committee and managed in accordance with legal requirements and internal investment and spending policies. The Board is committed to maintaining the Fund as established, while retaining its fiduciary authority under Massachusetts law.

As the organization reflects on its 20-year journey, from a vision of community-centered hospice care to a trusted resource serving many families each year, this campaign represents both gratitude and momentum.

Community members are invited to be part of this next chapter by contributing to the Endowment Fund.
