The Town of Amherst will be an active player in distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, which will be conducted in a manner aligned with the the State Department of Public Health’s statewide plan for vaccination.

The state is currently in Phase One of administration of the vaccine, to first responders only. Adults aged 65 and older are eligible for the vaccine in Phase Two, although precise dates and locations for senior vaccinations have not been announced.

In the meantime, there is still a lot you can do to prepare and take care of yourself.

  • Visit the State’s website “When Can I Get the COVID-19 Vaccine” site for up- to- date information on eligibility. It is updated twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. www.mass.gov/info-details/when-can-i-get-the-covid-19-vaccine
  • If you are a senior, share your contact information with the Amherst Senior Center so that when vaccination details are available, they can reach out to you. Call 413-259-3038 and leave your name, phone number and address.
  • Check www.amherstcovid19.org/vaccine where next steps will be posted as soon as they become available

Keep practicing good hygiene by wearing your mask, avoiding large gatherings, and keeping social distance.
